Måns Zelmerlöw

Måns Petter Albert Sahlén Zelmerlöw (born Zelmerlöw 13 June 1986) is a Swedish pop singer. He is probably best known for his 2007 song "Cara Mia," which was his entry in that year's Melodifestivalen. Since 2011 he hosts Allsång på Skansen.

Biography

Idol, Melodifestivalen 2007 and debut album

In 2005 Zelmerlöw took part in the Swedish version of Idol coming in 5th overall when he was eliminated on 11 November after 8 weeks on the show. He was placed in the bottom 3 twice and the bottom 2 once due to which he was eliminated.

In 2006 he took part in Let's Dance, where with dance partner Maria Karlsson, he triumphed and took 1st place. As well as appearing as Danny Zuko in the Swedish version of the musical Grease, Zelmerlöw signed a record deal with M&L Records, a division of Warner Music Sweden to release an album. In November 2006 in was announced that Zelmerlöw would compete in Melodifestivalen 2007, Sweden's competition to determine their Eurovision entry for the corresponding year. He competed with the song "Cara Mia" in the 3rd semi-final on 17 February 2007 in Örnsköldsvik where he progressed to the final in Stockholm. In the 10 March final at Globen, "Cara Mia" finished in third place behind winners The Ark and runner-up Andreas Johnson. "Cara Mia" was released as a single and Zelmerlöw's debut album Stand by For... followed shortly after. The album performed very well, reaching number one in Sweden and being certified platinum by IFPI. The album produced four singles, all reaching the top 50 in Sweden. Stand by For... has also been released in Poland in September 2007. In 2007 he also starred in the musical version of Footloose.

Melodifestivalen 2009 & MZW

In 2008 Zelmerlöw went back to the studio to write for his second solo album MZW. On 18 November 2008, it was announced that he would once again compete in Melodifestivalen, this time with the song "Hope & Glory". The 2009 edition of Melodifestivalen featured many former Melodifestivalen entrants including Sarah Dawn Finer, Sofia, BWO, and Amy Diamond. Zelmerlöw took part in semi-final 2 on 14 February 2009 where he once again progressed to the final at Globen. At the final on 14 March, "Hope & Glory" won 4th place despite receiving the most votes from the Jury. In late March 2009, Zelmerlöw released his second album MZW which has so far been certified gold by the IFPI and has reached number one on the Swedish album charts, the album has also been released in Poland. In 2009 he played a summer tour of Sweden performing songs from both albums.

Melodifestivalen 2010

On 10 November 2009 it was revealed that Zelmerlöw would host Melodifestivalen 2010, alongside Dolph Lundgren and Christine Meltzer. He hosted the first Semi-Final and the Final with Lundgren and Meltzer, and the remaining Semi-Finals with only Meltzer. In the opening of the Second Chance round he performed the Duran Duran song "A View to a Kill," and in the Final he sang the Survivor song "Eye of the Tiger" with his fellow presenters.

Possible 2012 Album

In an interview taken place in September 2011, Zelmerlow was asked when would be the most likely time he would put together a new album and he replied 'Spring 2012, but don't hold me to that'. He also said that he would like to have a go at bringing his material to Britain like fellow Swedish singer Ola Svensson.

Personal life

Zelmerlöw has one younger sister. He enjoys football, tennis and golf.^[1]
